VM improvements coming soon to FreeBSD
FreeBSD has proven to be an effective choice for file serving within data centers and out to the internet via 1Gbps and 10Gbps ethernet. Now 40, 80, and 100Gbps ethernet is starting to replace 10Gbps for high capacity serving. With this shift comes demands not only for faster CPUs but also for increased operating system performance. This talk will focus on the challenges and solutions involved in making FreeBSD serve streaming video via 40Gbps ethernet, especially the improvements in SMP scalability, and the DTrace and HWPMC tools used in the engineering process.
